EDI Mapping
EDI Mapping
EDI Mapping defines the translation of data structures from a proprietary file (in csv format, txt, SAP IDoc, ERP-specific etc.) to an EDI mapping standard format (EDIFACT, ANSI X12 etc.) and vice versa. On the one side the corporate ERP can integrate the data automatically and on the other side a standard based format can be sent to any trading partner who uses EDI and adheres the same EDI formats.
My expertise with EDI mapping is with the Biz Link EDI mapper client.
- With EDI mapping, data is mapped from a source file to a target fie.
- If the EDI document is an inbound document being sent to you, the source is the file coming from your trading partner (X12, XML, CSV, flat file etc) and the target is the ERP file being mapped to (flat file, DB table etc.).
- If the EDI document is an outbound document being sent to the trading partner, the source is the ERP file (CSV, DB table, flat file, SAI IDoc etc) and the target file is the EDI file being sent to the trading partner (X12, XML, CSV etc)
